Spotted Zebra's Special Services
Pre-School Special Education Program
3-5 year olds
The Spotted Zebra Learning Center is an approved special education provider through the New York State Education Department. All of Spotted Zebra's preschool classes are designed to enhance every preschooler's development with additional experiences with on-site speech therapists, physical therapists and occupational therapists.
The Spotted Zebra Learning Center believes in using an integrated, holistic approach to learning, which incorporates language and socialization through peer relations and adult-directed activities. Our small classes allow each child to receive the individual attention needed for a successful school experience. In classes of 12 children, staffing is comprised of 1 special education teacher 1 early childhood teacher and 1 teacher assistant. The program is language-based and includes a multi-sensory, creative, hands-on approach that is based on New York State Educational Guidelines. Each child's Individualized Education Plan is addressed in the context of the curriculum which focuses on cognitive development, language and communication skills and social skills. Licensed therapists, (speech therapist, occupational therapist, physical therapist and counseling/play therapy) are provided on-site as prescribed by each child's Individualized Education Plan (IEP).
